Installing your Portable Air Conditioner

Installing your Portable Air Conditioner

The UK may not seem like the place for an air conditioning unit but with recent heatwaves and more and more people living in apartment blocks with limited ventilation it makes more sense than ever to invest in an AC unit.
...
This handy walk-through will outline how to install your portable air conditioner properly so that you can receive the best results and stay cool over the summer months.

Choose the Right Location

To maximise the efficiency of your portable air conditioner, it should be placed in an area with unobstructed floor space so it receives sufficient airflow. You should also install your unit on an even surface to minimise noise and vibration.

You should place your portable AC as close to the window (or wall) as possible as the exhaust hose will be able to extract the hot air more efficiently. If your exhaust hose isn’t connected properly or isn’t as close to the window (or wall) as possible, you will find that the hot air circulates back into the room that you’re trying to cool.

Ensure that the intakes, outtakes and any other vents are not blocked or covered as this could damage this unit – as well as making it run less efficiently.

Installing the Exhaust Hose

To get the most from your portable AC, you should install the exhaust hose to the unit and expel the hot air outside of the building. AllAir air conditioning units have an exhaust hose included to make this easy for you.

Simply connect the exhaust hose into the window slider adaptor by pressing them together. It will automatically clamp due to the elastic buckles of the adaptors. Once this is complete, align and insert the exhaust hose assembly into the lower groove of the air outlet (on the back of the unit).

Once this is done, you can choose to install the kit from two methods. You can choose from window installation or wall installation. Please see your instruction manual for more details on how to do this.

For 8000BTU and 10,000BTU models, simply hang the exhaust hose out of your window or connect to your wall for the hot air to be released.

For the 12,000BTU model, a window installation kit is included. Choose the window sliders according to the size of your window. Sometimes, you may need to cut the slider shorter to meet your window size. Take extra care to ensure you cut it properly. Use the bolts (included) to fasten the window sliders once they are adjusted to the correct length.

Ensure you do not overextend or bend the hose as this will reduce functionality.

Attaching the Drainage Hose

If you wish to use the drainage hose, remove the drain plug from the back of the unit and attach the drain hose to the hole. Place the open end of the hose directly over the drain area. Ensure the hose is secure to prevent any leaks.

If you are not using the continuous drainage hose, make sure that the drain plug is firmly installed into the hole to prevent leakage. When the water level of the bottom tray reaches the predetermined level, the unit will beep eight times and the LED display will show ‘P1’. At this point, the air conditioning/dehumidifying process will stop. Carefully move the unit to the drain location, remove the bottom drain plug and let the water drain away. Once empty, reinstall the bottom drain plug securely and restart the machine until the ‘P1’ symbol disappears.

Mov...

Moving Your Portable Air Conditioner

You can easily move your AllAir portable air conditioner from room to room due to the castor wheels on the unit. If your windows are the same size in your home, you can unplug your AC, remove the window adaptor kit from the window and simply roll the device into the next room. You then need to re-install the window kit in the same manner, plug the unit in and turn it on. Ensure you drain the water tray before moving the unit as it may leak when being moved.

Hi, I am trying to use this as a dehumidifier at the moment, how do I do this. I have it on dry but don’t think it is actually doing anything.
