Make your Air Conditioning Smarter with Wi-Fi, Apps and Smart Speakers

This article will explain how to connect your Air Conditioner to Wi-Fi so you can control it with the app or your Alexa/Google Home smart speaker.

Here's what you’ll need:

A Wi-Fi-enabled Air Conditioner (such as an AllAir Air Conditioner)

A Smartphone

A Wi-Fi Connection

1. Download and Install the App

Android users: Scan the Android QR code in the manual or go to google play, search ‘Nethome Plus’ and download the app.

iOS users: Scan the iOS QR code in the manual or go to the app store, search ‘Nethome Plus’ and download the app.

2. Preparation

Ensure your Wi-Fi router is connected to the internet and that your mobile device is connected to your Wi-Fi router.

To initiate wireless operation, hold the power button for 3 seconds (for 8000BTU and 10,000BTU models) or hold the ‘swing’ button for 3 seconds (for 12,000BTU model). The LED display should show ‘AP’ to indicate you can set the wireless connection mode.

Please note that you must finish all the steps within 8 minutes after initiating the wireless function, otherwise you will need to restart the process.

3. Create an Account with the App

Follow the simple steps to create an account with app. Once registered, you can start setting up the network configuration.

Ensure the unit is in ‘AP’ (wireless connection) mode. There are two ways to complete the network configuration: via Bluetooth scan or by ‘select appliance type’.

Network Configuration via Bluetooth Scan

Ensure the Bluetooth of your mobile device is on and working before starting this process.

Press “Add Device” then “Scan for nearby devices”. Wait for smart devices to be found then click to add it. Select your Wi-Fi network, enter the password and wait for the device to connect to the network.

Once the connection has been successfully made, you can see the device on the list and modify the name.

Network Configuration by Select Appliance Type

If the Bluetooth network configuration fails, please do the following:

Click “Add Device” and select “Portable AC” and follow the steps within the app.

Once the connection has been successfully made, you can see the device on the list and modify the name.

Note: Due to different internet environments, it is possible that the device status will still display ‘offline’. If this occurs, please pull down on the screen to refresh the device list on the app. Alternatively, you can turn off the power of the unit and turn it back on. The device status will change to ‘online’ after a few minutes.

4. How to use the App

Once the air conditioning unit has been linked with the app, you can click into the selected device and control it from your mobile device. You will be able to control the on/off status, operation mode, temperature, fan speed and so on. Please note that some functions may not be available on your AC model.

Fan Speed

You will be able to choose between Low, Mid and High fan speed settings.

Favourite

If you click into the settings in the top right corner, you will be able to set your favourite setting including mode, temperature and fan speed. Once this is set, you will be able to select your favourite setting with one click on the selected devices home page.

Horizontal Swing

You will be able to select whether your device makes use of the “Swing” feature by pressing this button.

Sleep

If you click into the settings in the top right corner, you will be able to customise your “Sleep Curve”. This allows you to set target temperatures throughout the night to enable to a perfect night’s sleep.

LED

This button allows you to control if the LED display on the device is illuminated or not.

Schedules

You will be able to set a weekly timer to turn the AC on/off and at which fan speed, temperature, etc.

Share Device

If you click into the settings in the top right corner, you will be able to select “Share QR Code”. After following the instructions on the app, the AC unit will be able to be controlled by multiple users at the same time. Please note that any users will need to have downloaded and registered with the Nethome Plus app.

Please note that the app is subject to updates without prior notice. The actual network configuration process may be slightly different from the above. The actual process shall prevail.

Connecting to Smart Speakers, Siri and IFTTT

To connect to Alexa, Google Home, Siri or IFTTT, go to the home screen and select “me”. You will then see the option for “Third-Party Voice Services”. Select your desired voice service and follow the instructions on the app. Once this is complete, you will be able to control your device through your chosen third-party app. Please note that not all functions can be set through voice control.
